Pieter hails from upstate New York (Palmyra) and began piano studies at seven years old, training with private teachers and, later, the Community Education Division at Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY). From 2002 - 2007 Pieter attended Houghton College (Houghton, NY) where he studied organ literature and church music. He is an accomplished and recorded vocal and keyboard musician with many years of solo and collaborative performance. Pieter's love of music is seen in his dedication to study and practice as well as music education in the community. He has held church music and director positions in various churches in both New York State and Michigan, which he has called home for the last 15 years. Most recently Pieter was Director of Music and Organist at Abiding Presence from 2019 - 2020. After a few years away--during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic--Pieter's journey came full circle and back to Abiding Presence where he is called to share his talent to glorify God and lead others in worship.
